Job Description
The Senior SAP ABAP Consultant will lead the technical design, development, and deployment of custom SAP solutions, working closely with business and functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality outputs that support complex business needs. The role requires deep hands-on experience in SAP ABAP programming, integration across SAP modules, and expertise in S/4HANA environments. Responsibilities include mentoring junior developers, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and active participation across all phases of SAP projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, testing, and deployment of custom SAP ABAP programs including reports, interfaces, enhancements, workflows, and forms.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and efficient solutions, collaborating with functional consultants and stakeholders.
- Manage full lifecycle technical development, including code reviews, optimization, documentation, and ensuring adherence to SAP and project best practices.
- Resolve technical and performance issues, provide ongoing support for SAP module implementations, upgrades, and rollouts.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, deliver technical training, and promote quality standards across the SAP development team.
Must Have
- Strong expertise in core SAP ABAP programming, including ALV, SmartForms, enhancements, BAPIs, RFCs, IDOCs, and OData development.
- Extensive experience in S/4HANA development and migrations, adept with ABAP Development Tools (ADT), CDS views, and RESTful ABAP Programming Model.
- End-to-end project experience with SAP implementations, covering requirement gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize ABAP code for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, able to interact effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating SAP with non-SAP systems using APIs, web services, or middleware (REST, SOAP, PI/PO).
- Knowledge of SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform), cloud extensibility, and development on SAP Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with SAP module-specific processes such as SD, MM, FICO, EWM, or HR, supporting cross-functional ABAP development.
- Exposure to data migration tools like LSMW, BDC, and techniques for legacy system conversion.
- SAP ABAP certification, experience as technical lead, or history mentoring development teams in dynamic project environments.
