Job Description
The Senior SAP BASIS Consultant is responsible for architecting, administering, and optimizing complex SAP landscapes. This role includes managing system installations, upgrades, and performance, ensuring high availability, and providing technical leadership during major projects. Close collaboration with functional and technical teams, plus mentoring juniors, is required to sustain reliable SAP platform operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, install, upgrade, and configure SAP systems (including S/4HANA, ECC, BW, SRM, and related modules) to meet business and technical requirements.
- Lead SAP performance tuning, system monitoring, capacity management, and implement technical best practices.
- Manage core SAP BASIS administration, including transport management, user and authorization management, and database administration (Oracle, HANA).
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system incidents, perform root cause analysis, and ensure system security and compliance.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior BASIS consultants and collaborate across teams to ensure successful project delivery and system uptime.
Must Have
- Advanced hands-on expertise with SAP system installations, upgrades, and technical administration (Basis, NetWeaver, S/4HANA).
- Strong proficiency in database management for SAP (SAP HANA, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server).
- Experience in system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and SAP system monitoring tools.
- In-depth knowledge of SAP security concepts, user/authorization management, and compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills—able to engage across business, IT, and vendor teams.
Nice to have
- SAP Basis certification and formal training (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate).
- Experience in cloud-based SAP deployments (RISE with SAP, Azure/AWS SAP landscapes).
- Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager configuration, monitoring, and diagnostics.
- Scripting and automation capabilities (e.g., Shell, PowerShell, Python) for systems operation and monitoring.
- Knowledge of SAP integration with external systems and third-party technologies (interfaces, middleware).
